WORKPLAYS Highlights Workplace Dangers for Young WorkersThe Alberta Workers' Health Centre is again touring WORKPLAYS: A Dramatic Approach to Saving Young Lives through Alberta high schools this February and March. WORKPLAYS, written by playwright Jane Heather, and co-produced with Ground Zero Productions, is a 40 minute play that engages high school students in a lively, witty and empowering exploration of issues that are all-too-common in today's workplaces. WORKPLAYS is aimed at informing young workers, helping them to make choices and, ultimately, helping to prevent injuries and to save lives. Last school year, WORKPLAYS completed a successful 4 week tour of high schools. Approximately 3000 people saw the show, including approximately 40 teachers. This year our target is even higher. We will have 50 performances for over 5000 students. We are again making this program available to the schools at no cost to them. This is possible because of the ongoing contributions that unions make each year to the Alberta Workers' Health Centre and because of the extra donations that you make to special programs like WORKPLAYS. For more information on WORKPLAYS, contact Kevin at the Alberta Workers Health Centre: kevinf@workershealthcentre.ca Alberta Workers' Health Centre to Capture Young Worker StoriesThe Alberta Workers' Health Centre is looking for the workplace stories of young workers. We are collecting these stories on digital video for possible use in an upcoming video production and for use on websites. Specifically, we are looking for situations of young workers who are dealing with workplace health issues, discrimination and human rights issues and violations of employment standards. And, yes, we will gladly record your good news stories as well.
