Suggest Changes to the OH&S CodeDeadline: March 31, 2007Got a beef with the health and safety regulations? Not tough enough? Do they need improvement to better protect you and your co-workers? Here is your chance to get your voice heard. For the next few weeks, Workplace Health and Safety of the Alberta government is accepting suggestions for changes to the Code. Any suggestions submitted will be considered in the next round of review starting later this year. Under the OH&S Code, the government must review possible amendments to the safety rules every two years. They have chosen a process that allows Albertans to suggest changes, and then a review committee looks at ONLY those sections suggested. If no suggestion is made to a section, the committee cannot look at it. This makes suggestions from workers VERY important to the process. The suggestions do not have to be detailed, or provide specific wording. They just need to indicate a shortcoming, omission or problem with the code and a possible solution. AFL ProposalsThe AFL has submitted its proposals to the government. Rather than outline the dozens and dozens of changes needed, we decided to focus on 10 specific changes that are immediately necessary and if implemented would have a great impact on the safety of workers in this province. Submitting your IdeasTo make a suggestion, follow these instructions: All submissions must include the following information:
