Overview
The AFL is seeking an Office Administrator. The position provides professional and administrative support to the officers, staff and affiliates of the Alberta Federation of Labour.
We are looking for someone has the ability to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. The best applicants will be well organized and adaptable. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and an overall positive outlook. Familiarity with the goals and objectives of the labour movement would also be considered an asset. Ideal candidates have the following skills.
- Accurate and proficient computer skills
- Ability to understand instructions and independently complete assigned tasks
- Knowledge of common office procedure and equipment
- Ability to be resourceful in meeting new problems
- Ability to maintain working relationships with the membership, public and other employees
- Ability to make decisions in conformance with policies and regulations
This is a fulltime position at 35 hours per week. Office hours are generally 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Requirements and Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by computer or administrative courses, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation and Benefits
Wages and working conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Canadian Office and Professional Employees union (COPE 458) and the AFL.
